PANTANAL

The Pantanal is the world's largest wetland, also containing the greatest concentration of tropical fauna in Latin America, including more than 650 species of birds, 600 species of fish, 200 species of mammals plus thousands of species of plants!

Birds are the most frequently seen wildlife, but the Pantanal is also a sanctuary for giant river otters, capybaras, anacondas, iguanas, jaguars, cougars, caimans, deer and anteaters. 80% of the Pantanal is distributed in about 140,000 km2 of Brazilian territory (states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul). Its remaining portions are found in Paraguay and Bolivia.
