How
We Started
This
is a project of life: to understand, educate, and inspire
about the Brazilian Amazon.
In
1999, award-winning Brazilian journalist and producer, Luiz
Lobo, left a career as director of interactive media development
at PBS/IPTV, and took on the mission to unveil the mysteries
of the Negro River, the largest tributary of the Amazon.
Joined
by a team of media producers, journalists, and Amazon experts
from the U.S. and Brazil, he began the production of "Amazônia:
Mother of Nature", a television series in
High-Definition format. The jungletrekker site has followed
their journeys to the region with video and written reports
posted daily at the site via satellite phone.
The
experience triggered another passion and mission for all
of us: to promote friendship between North Americans, Brazilians,
Europeans, and Amazonians working towards a sustainable
future for the rain forest.
